K&M has designed wholesale electricity markets.

As a subsidiary of Dorado—a company that owns and operates power plants operating in competitive markets—K&M has unique insights on how wholesale markets really work.  We differentiate ourselves from advisory firms that are grounded on academic concepts by offering advice based on our practical experience designing wholesale markets and operating merchant power plants.

For example, K&M was retained by the Consejo Nacional de Modernización in Ecuador to unbundle the electricity utility into separate commercially viable generation, transmission, and distribution business units; draft new legislation to create a wholesale market; and model the wholesale market to determine competitive market prices, unit dispatch and revenues.

In addition to Ecuador, K&M has advised governments or investors in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Hungary, Jordan, Mauritius, Romania, Russia, Uruguay, and the United States of America.
