K&M Advisors Strengthens Partnership with NEPCO to Enhance Jordan’s Energy Security

January 20, 2025

K&M Advisors proudly continues its long-standing partnership with the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) by delivering critical advisory services for Jordan’s energy infrastructure. Since first collaborating in 2007, K&M has successfully supported NEPCO on five significant thermal generation t projects, contributing to the nation’s ongoing efforts to modernize its power sector and ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply.

Most recently, K&M has been engaged to provide consultancy services for the development of a 581 MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant. This flagship project is critical to Jordan’s strategy to enhance grid stability, meet the country’s growing energy demand, and reduce reliance on imported fuels. K&M is leading comprehensive technical, financial, and regulatory studies to support the successful implementation of this high-impact project. This work involves evaluating the plant’s design, developing a risk management framework, and advising on optimal procurement and financing strategies—all essential for ensuring the project’s long-term viability and alignment with Jordan’s energy transition goals.

K&M’s extensive portfolio with NEPCO includes leading studies for the 581 MW CCGT Power Plant and serving as Independent Engineer for the 889 MW Attarat Oil Shale Power Project (2020–2023). K&M has also provided technical support for the 485 MW Hussein Power Station (2015–2016) and was the transaction advisor for the 241 MW IPP4 Power Station (2009–2012), the 573 MW IPP3 Power Station (2008–2013), and the 373 MW Al Qatrana Power Station (2007–2009).

Jordan’s increasing energy consumption and vulnerability to regional supply disruptions highlight the urgency for expanding and diversifying the nation’s energy generation capacity. K&M’s involvement in the 581 MW CCGT project directly supports Jordan’s goal of improving energy security and sustainability, as outlined in the country’s Electricity Master Plan (2023–2035).

This partnership exemplifies K&M’s commitment to delivering sustainable and innovative energy solutions that drive resilience and reliability in national power systems. K&M remains dedicated to supporting NEPCO and the Government of Jordan in advancing sustainable, efficient, and resilient energy infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for all Jordanians.
