Continuing K&M’s history advising on the development of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in infrastructure, IDB Invest contracted K&M to: i) provide PPP advisory services under a multi-year Master Service Agreement (MSA), and ii) under a separate contract, to recommend approaches for promoting more efficient and effective PPPs in water and sanitation (W&S) in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
This MSA is a contracting vehicle to provide IDB Invest with demand-driven advisory services across a wide range of sectors such as energy, water and sanitation, transport, and social infrastructure. Services include knowledge dissemination, project prioritization and pipeline development, transaction structuring, and contract management and renegotiation support.
Led by Mr. Nils Janson, Managing Director of Policy and Regulation, K&M is advising IDB Invest on the review of past W&S PPPs in LAC, IDB Invest’s contributions to the W&S sector in LAC, and prospective PPPs in the sector. For this assignment, K&M developed a database for assessing the performance and characteristics of the more than 300 PPPs in W&S that have been contracted in LAC since 1995. K&M helped to identify countries and segments with strong potential for PPPs in W&S and challenges in the sector that could be addressed effectively with PPPs. Through this analytical work, combined with stakeholder interviews, K&M will provide recommendations to IDB Invest on how it can best contribute to addressing the main challenges in W&S in LAC by promoting PPPs.
