K&M provided an independent technical review to the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory for a Program, Product and Project Engineering and Analysis Services task order completed under subcontract to Energy and Environmental Solutions (E2S). This assignment entailed examination of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) review and certification process to determine the potential for accelerated approval of new materials for supercritical and ultra-supercritical steam power plant service to conform to the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section I, Power Boilers. The overall objective of the study was to identify existing restraints and obstacles to more expeditious review and adoption.
