Ms. Maria De Laiglesia is an electrical engineer with nearly two decades of experience in the energy sector and a recognized expert in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). She has led the design, development, and implementation of large-scale BESS projects for utility, commercial, and industrial applications, including grid-connected and off-grid BESS systems. Maria provides comprehensive oversight throughout the lifecycle of BESS projects, from initial concept and technical due diligence to modeling, pre-development, procurement, construction, and ongoing owner’s engineering. In her previous roles at leading industry firms such as AES Energy Storage (currently Fluence) and Tesla Energy, Maria led some of the world’s largest and most technologically advanced energy storage projects. Since 2015, she has advised on over 3.5 GWh of operational energy storage projects and supported the development of an additional 22 GWh. She now works as an independent BESS consultant supporting utilities, developers, and contractors in planning, designing, and implementing energy storage projects.
